National Mega Project of Turning Salty Ground Water into Drinking Water with Agricultural, and Industrial Usage in The Fifth Research and Technology Exhibition

ATF- The National Mega Project of Turning Salty Ground Water into Drinking water with Agricultural, and Industrial usage will be presented in the Fifth Research and Technology Exhibition.

Dr. Karim Soleimani, the project manager of TSG announced in an interview with ATF website, that based on the existing national statistics and data, about 25 million hectare of a total of 165 million hectares of lands in Iran suffer from salinity problem. He also pointed out that each year 6 billion cubic meters of salty water runs through in land rivers inside the country and also the country borders the Caspian sea and the Persian Gulf in the north and in the south and via appropriate management we can use these waters for agriculture purposes.

He said that the goals of the research project are to localize water desalination technologies, localize technologies used for direct application of sea water, and generation of salt-resistant genotypes.

Dr. Soleimani added that, this project takes three years to complete and a consortium of universities will cooperate in the project.
